ART TOUR TO PRAGUE - 8.5. - 11.5.2025

ART TOUR TO PRAGUE - Thursday 8.5. (or Friday 9.5. early) until Sunday 11.5.2025

Since the 1990s, an astonishing density of independent exhibition institutions, private galleries and public museums has emerged in Prague. This is based on the one hand on the historically rich collections, and on the other on the non-commercial institutions supported at district, city or state level, such as the many branches of the municipal galleries or the National Gallery. Or, for example, new initiatives such as Meet Factory and DOX. In addition, private galleries are increasingly able to assert themselves, increasing interest in contemporary art in their own way and also achieving international success.

The beauty of the city and its rich history also make Prague a popular travel destination. In our programme, we focus on contemporary art and architecture since 1900 - the latter also offers something highly remarkable, for example with Cubism (Rondo-Cubism as a national style in the early 20th century). The wealth of Prague society and the clear decision in favour of modernism and democracy during the first decades of the Czechoslovak state's independence can be seen in the architecture and, for example, in the collection of the National Gallery, which displays magnificent early acquisitions of modern French art.

We recommend arriving in the afternoon or evening of Thursday 8 May (or Friday morning), the programme lasts until Sunday afternoon, 11 May 2025.

The detailed programme available before the trip contains the exact addresses - so you can join the programme at any time. The guided tour will be held in English and partly in German. In the time before the trip we offer preparatory information about Prague, current art discourses and Czech art and architecture, books, links, etc.
