Art Tour Praha

Thursday 18.10. (respectively 19.10.) until Sunday 21.10.2018

Since the 90’s a great variety of independent art-institutions, galleries and museums has arisen in Prague. This diversity incorporates on the one hand rich historical collections, on the other hand uncommercial institutions, which are supported by the district-, city- or even state administration, such as the many exhibition spaces owned by the state galleries or by the National Gallery. In addition to that new initiatives like Meet Factory and DOX deserve to be mentioned. Moreover, private galleries contribute in their way by increasing the interest towards contemporary art and being at the same time internationally successful.

Also the beauty of the city and the rich history make of Prague a popular vacation destination. In our program we focus on the contemporary art and architecture since 1900 - Rondo Cubism as national style in the early 20th century is one such striking example . The wealth of the Prague high-society as well as the choice for modernism and democracy during the first decades of the independent Czechoslovakia are mirrored in both, architecture and the National Gallery’s collection, where one can admire excellent early acquisitions of modern French art.

Thursday, the first day of the program, will be a classical one: we will visit the Hradčany hilltop and a part of the old city- that’s the reason why we suggest an early arrival on Thursday or, even better, already in the evening before. You can arrive also one day later- the main part of our contemporary art program takes place from Friday morning till Sunday afternoon.

The detailed program made available before the excursion contains all the addresses - you can therefore always turn to it. The tour will be held in English and partially in German. Before the journey we will provide you with preparatory infos about Prague, Czech art and architecture, useful books and links etc.

KnollGalerieWien invites you to a long weekend of art discovery in Prague. The program gives an interesting and exciting insight into the Czech art scene and architecture. The tour begins on Thursday morning, 18. October (with the classical part), or on Friday morning, 19. October. (Arrival in both cases earlier that day or even better, in the evening before), return on Sunday evening 21. October 2018.
The price for participating to our program is € 120,- (3 days) respectively 135,- (4 days). The arrival follows independently (for example with the train from Vienna or Berlin € 14, or with the bus starting from € 15, numerous connections).
